My friend Hestan was born with multiple rare and severe heart conditions, including Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Transposition of the Great Arteries, Pulmonary Atresia, Tricuspid Atresia, and Mitral Valve Atresia. Because of these complications, he has already endured five open‑heart surgeries. During each one, his heart stopped due to his extreme sensitivity to anesthesia.
For the past two years, his heart has only been functioning at 25–30%. He is now on the transplant watchlist, and by God’s grace, a hospital has agreed to perform the surgery, though the timing is uncertain. But while the medical path is opening, insurance has tried to avoid covering the cost of the transplant. This has left him and his family with overwhelming financial needs.
Despite all of this, Hestan is studying at Mission University to become a pastor. He loves Christ deeply and has a passion for reaching and discipling youth. Personally, he has been one of the greatest encouragers in my walk with Jesus — a friend whose faith beats loudly even when his physical heart struggles.
Right now, one of his most urgent needs is funding for the post‑transplant medications that will sustain his life, help his body heal, and prevent rejection of his new heart. His parents also need support as they plan to live near the hospital during his recovery.
